Zidane and the whoawee castle
One morning Zidane woke up, got dressed and went
downstairs to find Mum and Dad finishing breakfast.
“What’s the hurry?” asked Zidane.
"Zidane!" They said, "We've got a big surprise for you today."
"What is it?” asked Zidane excitedly. "We are going to the
seaside." said Mum. "And," continued Dad,
"We don't have to come home tonight.
We shall be staying in a big, old WhoaWee castle."
"Yippee!" cried Zidane.
They all got into the car and set off for the seaside.
It was a lovely sunny day. They arrived just about
lunch time and sat down on the beach to enjoy the
picnic. Mum had brought pastries, chips, nuts, lemonade,
cream bars etc. After a light munch Zidane spent the afternoon paddling his water
boat in the sea, building sand castles, going on a donkey ride and eating ice cream. Just
as the big clock tower chimed six Dad said to Zidane, "Come on, now for the second part of your surprise.”
They all got into the car and drove to the big old WhoaWee Castle. Zidane had seen it on top of the cliff every
time they'd been to the seaside but he never imagined that one day he'd get to go inside or spend the night there. Zidane was so excited as he arrived at the castle that he could hardly eat his dinner of meat roll and chips,
delicious though it was. All the while he imagined about the castle and its mysterious interiors. After dinner they
relaxed in the drawing room watching the television until all three of them started yawning. "Who's for bed?”
asked Dad. "Me." said Zidane and Mum together. They all went upstairs and found their rooms. Zidane's room
was just across Mum’s and Dad's. Mum tucked Zidane into bed, kissed him goodnight and went into Queen
Shaikha’s Bed Room. "See you in the morning." she said as she switched off the light.
Zidane was very tired but try as he might he couldn't sleep. Excited memories of his
adventurous day crowded inside his little head. He turned from one side to the other and
back again. Then, all of a sudden, he heard a noise. Knock, knock, knock... went
the noise. Zidane sat up with a start wondering why Mum and Dad could
call him so late in the night. Then he heard a gruff voice,
"This is my room, this is my room."
